The Perry House Wedding Guide || Monterey, Ca.

March 26, 2025

A guide to getting married at The Perry House through Samantha and Luke’s gorgeous Monterey Wedding. Diving into what makes this Monterey venue one of the best venues to host your California wedding.

The Perry House, Adobe Wall with Bride and Groom

The Perry House is an old Victorian style home located in downtown Monterey, Ca. Allowing your wedding party ample space to get ready. Your guests will not only enjoy the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception all in one location, but it’s everything that is elegant. Providing that upscale backyard wedding feel for all your guests.

The first of many favorites of why I love working at The Perry House is getting ready! Samantha chose to have all bridal getting ready portraits shot solely in the bridal suite. She chose to have her hair and makeup done in Blush Studio down the street! With a beautiful and large bridal suite attached to the upstairs of the venue. We have plenty of room for all your pre ceremony portraits right here! Samantha and Luke chose to do their first look on the top floor, all their couples portraits, private vows, and wedding party portraits upatairs.

I love how I can keep my couples hidden and tucked away from all arriving guests at this venue in Monterey, Ca.

It’s it amazing how much can be done just upstairs at the Perry House! Later in this post I will share more about the upstairs, and how it’s used for during a wedding day.

Wedding Ceremony at The Perry House

When couples want that elevated backyard feel to their wedding, this is the venue for you! Before the ceremony the groom comes from the main level of the house to walk to the alter. The bride will come from the top level balcony to meet her father on the main level. Then together they will conclude their descend and down the aisle. Located at the base of a beautiful multi level deck next to a historic carriage house on site.

Stunning plants, trees, and a fountain surround the ceremony site giving a secluded feel in a busy historic neighborhood in Monterey, Ca. Chance of rain like Samantha and Luke’s day? Don’t worry though, the Perry House has an outdoor tent just right for your event to still take place! The clear tent with sides that can be open or closed will insure a beautiful ceremony no matter what the weather!

Cocktail Hour with Views of the Monterey Bay

This is one of my favorite features of all with this venue in Monterey, Ca. After the ceremony, venue staff will direct your guests to the upper level of the home and deck for cocktail hour, where a small bar awaits. Guests will mingle amongst one another within the house and tiers of balconies. Enjoying beverages and great views of the Monterey Bay (day or night). On the garden level there’s a beautiful stone firepit where your guests will enjoy conversation.

When a couple hosts their wedding at The Perry House, they select three hors d’oeuvres to be served and enjoy a standalone station! I personally love to get my couples to their cocktail hour as soon as possible! After taking family photos, my couples enjoy drinks and mingle with their family and friends.

While your friends and family are enjoying their drinks, the staff is busy transforming the venue ceremony site to host everyone for dinner. They do an impecable job at getting everything moved from saying “I do”, to “Let’s eat!”

Samantha and Luke’s guests were dressed to impress! Their tables numbers were pictures of themselves at that specific age, and wooden etched coasters for each guest. I can just imagine their guests using these around the table as they play board games together. One of Samantha and Luke’s favorite pastimes.

Sunset Portraits for this Monterey Wedding

The Perry House has so many options for sunset portraits within a short distance. From the Adobe wall across the street, to a beautiful historic park down the street, just a couple minute walk, and the small side yard of the venue. We will make sure to capture your love together in just a short amount of time. Giving you more time with your guests!

Samantha and Luke actually met in high school with their first date being their senior prom, and have been together ever since. They are the sweetest and kindest couple towards each other. They love playing board games together, sharing Kit Kat’s and Starbursts with a night in. Luke proposed after a Sharks game tricking Samantha into thinking he forgot something inside and asked for her help to find it.

Eating & Dancing at this Historic Venue in Monterey

The Perry House has an all in house catering service with some of the best wedding dinners I’ve ever had! You will get to choose from a plated meal, buffet style, or family style dinners. During dinner and dancing hours your bar service will move from the top story bar, to a larger more exquisite bar inside the carriage house. The Carriage House offers the perfect spot for a lounge set, desserts, late-night coffee, and snacks.Your guests will be sure to remember your wedding!

All the dancing activities will be happening on the main floor of the home where the DJ has a designated corner for their set up, and guests that don’t want to be a part of your partying shenanigans can find quieter conversation areas on all levels of the decks, upstairs of the house, or even down at the garden level with the carriage house. Mingling will happen freely and organically at The Perry House! There’s something for all guests!

Check out Sam and Luke’s beautiful reception! Cake in the carriage house, dancing on the main floor with a cute bouquet toss, and a fun bubble send off!
