Seabright Beach: Fun and Casual Engagement Session

As a Santa Cruz wedding and engagement photographer, I do a lot, and I mean a lot of beach sessions! I love shooting at the beach! It taught me to shoot under any circumstances! We typically can’t hide under a tree to give us shade and even lighting, which can be such a scary thing for newer photographers. There’s lots of people, and most clients are wanting that secluded feeling! Don’t worry, I got you! There are sooo many beaches to pick from and a lot of people will gravitate towards the “tourist” ones, but some are just better than others and Seabright beach is one of them! And it’s easy to see why!

Lee + Aaron:

Lee and Aaron traveled in from Australia to Santa Cruz, California for their intimate micro wedding, so we planned their engagement shoot shortly after their arrival into the states and days before their wedding! 100% worth it! Even though we hadn’t really met long before their wedding, doing their engagement session is so valuable! Getting the chance to meet, getting them comfortable in front of the camera and having some “down” time for them made this session in Santa Cruz so great!

After years of shooting engagements in Santa Cruz, and being considered a romantic photographer something happened last year that I just FELL in LOVE with…and that is a bit more of a casual look! Do I still love a big gown or romantic dress during a shoot? Heck yes, I do, but I have now also fallen in love with casual, cozy, jeans and comfort! I mean there’s so much that can happen in your shoot with a casual vibe than a dressy one; like a bear hug, a piggy back, some cute but grabs! These just aren’t the same if you have a big formal gown on, am I right?!
